KARTA
One of my fave things about my job is scouting and discovering new cool brands. I don't know why, but I have a knack for predicting "what and who" will be the next trends and who will be loved and embraced by both the media and the public. I know this "thing" is something I was born with and so far I've had an extremely reliable record. Sometimes me and my husband even joke about it because we'll be like "It's all about such and such - THAT'S going to be the next big trend" and then pouf - it happens! And right before our eyes we watch our predictions become reality and it's an amazing sight to see.
That said, I take it VERY seriously when I forecast someone's trend-worthiness or success. After all, that is why I have this "forecast" page. I wanted a place to
tell you all what I am "feeling" at the moment so you can catch on to it before it becomes mainstream. That's what makes trend tracking SO much fun!
So on to my next prediction: KARTA
As many of you know, I spent many years as a Stylist for Nordstrom and I have a strong history and relationship with them still till this day. So when I fell in LOVE with this new brand KARTA, and found out that the designer spent some of her time as a salesperson at Nordstrom, I knew there was a connection.
Designer Judi Lambert, a native California girl, is a self-taught designer. Her collection, KARTA, feels a little bit hipster, a little bit mod, and a little bit Jackie O. It's an ideal mix of style and substance that every fashionista craves. While I am obsessing over many of the pieces, my personal faves are some of the tops we featured in our Fall fashion story, as well as some of these fun prints and dresses.
There are many stores that jumped on the KARTA bandwagon this season. Nordstrom being first, also Saks.com, NeimanMarcus.com, Shopbop.com, Standardstyle.com and others. But nonetheless, the public and of course celebrities galore will soon be sporting this collection in no time. I've already started seeing the buzz with retailers and some fashion writer friends who can't seem to stop talking about this new brand.
So there you have it. It's well worth investing in a piece or two (or three) because while KARTA may appear as a trend right now with its oversized jewels and dramatic draping techniques, I can see KARTA lasting quite a while, fitting into that must-have contemporary category of tops.
Def worth checking out.
You heard it here first!
